Celebrity Endorsements Within the 2024 Election

Renee Tessier outlines celebrity stances in the 2024 Election

Celebrities take a stand in the 2024 Election

As the 2024 presidential election creeps close, many celebrities have shown their support for various candidates. These endorsees include Beyonce, Bryce Hall, Taylor Swift, Caitlyn Jenner, Billie Eilish and more. From A list celebs to social media influencers, both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have amassed a number of support from these pop culture figures. Whether this support comes from center stage at rallies or other online sources, it is clear that they are well fostered.

Firstly, what is an endorsement? An endorsement, according to Oxford languages, is “an act of giving one’s public approval or support to someone or something”, in this case, leaders of the Democratic and Republican presidential campaigns. Endorsements can help campaign leaders by validating them to the public eye, allowing them platforms that access new levels of demographics, catering to interests citizens share with an endorsee and creating excitement amongst voters (with the prospect to swing votes) amongst other things. In other words, a celebrity endorsement can act as a great advantage to runners.

Taylor Swift

In reference to misinformation being spread about the internet, in early September, Taylor Swift took to instagram to clear the controversy, and stated her stance on this year’s election. She claims “I think she [Kamala Harris] is a steady-headed gifted leader and I believe that we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos”, making her stance clear on this year’s election.

Bryce Hall

Republican, Bryce Hall took it upon himself  to speak at a Trump rally, stating the importance to him of getting Donald Trump back in office. “And you know we have all different kinds of stars than we did ten years ago, 20 years ago, it used to be a little simpler, but now it's a whole different world…we have time, we have to have Bryce, right?”, Trump presents Bryce with a multitude of compliments before inviting him to the stage for a seemingly spontaneous speech. Bryce promptly declares “We need Trump back, really bad. Make America great again!” Although his original sanction for Trump enraged his online followers, the MAGA enthusiast proudly stood on stage, his matching red hat in tow.
