Disney’s Tron: Ares

Jianni Holt gives an overview on the upcoming film, Tron Ares, and where the story for the Tron series is so far.

Disney’s Tron Ares is in production and is set to be released October 10, 2025. Disney’s Tron Ares tells the story of A highly intelligent being called Ares who was sent from the digital
world to the real one on a dangerous mission marking humankind’s first global encounter with A.I begins. This movie is the third title in the Tron series. With the first centered around a talented computer engineer Kevin Flynn who finds out that Ed Dillinger, an executive
at his company, has been stealing his work. He tries to hack into the system. However, Flynn is transported into the digital world, where he has to face off against Dillinger’s computerized likeness, Sark, and the imposing Master Control Program.

Aided by Tron and Yori , Flynn becomes a freedom fighter for the oppressed programs of the grid. Disney’s has released their Tron series movie, the second movie in the series is about the main character Sam, the son of famous video-game developer Kevin Flynn haunted for a long time by his father’s mysterious disappearance. A strange signal draws Sam to Flynn’s Arcade, and he is pulled into the same cyberworld in which his father, its creator, has been trapped for 20 years. With fearless warrior Quorra, Kevin and Sam seek to escape from a universe that, while magnificent, is far more advanced and dangerous than Kevin had ever imagined.

Their are additional additions to the series, like “Tron: The Next Day” was a 10-minute short film, released on the Blu-Ray edition of TRON: Legacy in April 2011, that fills in the backstory between TRON and TRON: Legacy. It features scenes from the real-world Flynn Lives ARG as well as purely in-universe content. The short film also reveals the full chronology of the Flynn Lives Organization, naming Roy Kleinberg as the secret figure heading up the operation and Alan Bradley as its financial backer. There is also a TV spin-off called Tron Uprising, which covers the events leading up to Tron Legacy as well. Some scenes in the short film also set up the story for a potential third film. The Tron series has come a long way and for all the Tron fans out there waiting for the text installment of the movie, Tron sounds like a good series to watch with the sci-fi lover in your life.
