The FHS Football Team season concluded with a 4-5 record, making a challenging and quite competitive season for the team. Unfortunately, the season ended with a sad loss in the first round of the playoffs. Expectations were high for the FHS football team, but the players tried and gave the opposing team a good fight. While this season may have not gone as people expected, there's room for improvement and hard work during the off season for the team to do even better next season.
There were many challenges along the way in the team’s rocky regular season, but they faced all odds and made the postseason. With weeks leading up to the postseason, the team trained rigorously. Practices were intense; each player pushed themselves to the max to prepare them for what was going to be a challenging matchup. The coaches reminded the players that every play mattered and they worked hard for this opportunity to slip away.
From kickoff, it was clear that both teams wanted the first round win and were determined. In the first half, there was a lot of back and forth scoring especially with the FHS team scoring early. However at halftime though, some players began to feel fatigue and more mistakes started kicking in. As time ticked away in the fourth quarter down by 2, desperation to win. They attempted several strategies such as changing formations and calling timeouts, but nothing worked as the game clock kept going. Each minute went without scoring from the team, players and coaches were frustrated.
As the final whistle blew it confirmed the team’s loss with a final score of 22-20. It was a moment filled with disappointment from the players.
