Christian Lewis writes about Franklin High School Boy's Basketball and the ups and downs of their 2025 season
The Franklin Boys Basketball team are struggling to find success as they approach the counties and state tournaments with a 5-13 record. After a successful season under head coach Kashiff Foster last year, he and the rest of the staff are forced to go back to the drawing board as the team loses 8 seniors. Varsity returners who had an impact on the team last year, Sophomore Jah’naad Cady, Senior Shaylen Patel, and Senior Christian Lewis were looking to lead the team. The Warriors lost their main scorer Jah’naad due to an injury.

The Warrior Newspaper interviewed two seniors: Nyle McEachin and Shaylen Patel about the season, and the recent struggles this year, as well as plans for the playoffs. FHS Senior, Shaylen Patel had this to say, “The team hasn’t bought in defensively and hasn’t played as hard as we should. We should be looking to play to our strengths and at times we find ourselves in a hole and it’s hard to get out of.”
Senior Nyle McEachin had a similar response, “The team is struggling this year because we don’t come together as a collective to win games.” Ultimately, both Shaylen and Nyle said that the team needs to play with more pride if they look to make a run in the playoffs. The Franklin Warrior wishes the best to the team, and knows that they will play with strength and pride for the rest of the 2025 Basketball Season.
