LeBron James: 22 Years of Excellence

Shay Patel explores Lebron James' legacy as he enters his 22nd year in the NBA

Lebron James, entering Year 22 in the NBA, is ready with 'a lot in the tank'. He's ready to help the Los Angeles Lakers win a championship as usual, but this time along with his 19-year-old son Bronny James. It's going to be the first time in NBA history there has ever been a father and son duo playing together in a game. The 39-year-old said in his recent interview, "So I feel really good physically. Mentally, I feel really good. Really sharp. Very fresh. Looking forward to getting to work tomorrow."

Lebron James is currently the oldest player in the league at 39 years old -- the same age as other players like P.J Tucker, Chris Paul, and Taj Gibson. This season for Lebron James will tie the most number of seasons an NBA player has ever played along with Vince Carter who played his 22nd season in 2020. Lebron James doesn’t have that much time left as he’s entering year 22 looking for a 5th championship before he retires and enters the Hall of Fame. James, who turns 40 in December, said “Ok, I do have a lot in the tank. A lot. And I can help”. Young teams in the west like the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Memphis Grizzlies could be a top 5 team in the west once Lebron James retires from the Lakers. The Lakers will rely on Bronny James and Anthony Davis to carry the Lakers to a playoff spot when Lebron James retires. Lebron James truly is one of the greatest players in NBA history of all time and one of the most accomplished players in the league. We shouldn’t take what Lebron did for the league for 20+ years for granted because if he were to retire today, he would be a first-ballot hall of famer for all of his achievements.
