Najib Robinson writes about which teams are contending for the Lombardi Trophy

As the NFL Season starts to heat up, fans are already arguing about which teams will make the playoffs and contend for the Lombardi Trophy.

With some standout performances from surprising contenders like the Commanders, Vikings, and Texans and the usual powerhouse teams dominating the league, the race to the postseason is shaping up to be very unpredictable but enticing at the same time. As the season has gotten to a hot start, here are some key terms and predictions on who will secure a playoff spot and the race to Super Bowl 59:

NFC Contenders

Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles are solidifying their place as a top team in the NFC East with their consistent performances, currently sitting at 12-5, projecting them as strong playoff contenders

Washington Commanders – One of the season's biggest surprises, the Commanders have vastly improved their chances of making the playoffs. With a 4-2 record and standout performances from quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Commanders are firmly in the hunt, and have favorable matchups ahead. With the odds improving from +12000 to +3000 for a Super Bowl run, they are becoming dark-horse contenders.

Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings have jumped up the power rankings and are performing well despite some earlier struggles. With key players stepping up, they are one of the NFC North teams that could secure a playoff spot

AFC Contenders

Kansas City Chiefs – Unsurprisingly, the Chiefs continue to dominate. With a 15-2 projection, they are favorites for another Super Bowl run, backed by Patrick Mahomes' leadership and a strong defense too.

Houston Texans – Led by rookie QB C.J. Stroud, the Texans have been one of the breakout teams this season. With a current projection of 12-5, Houston looks poised to challenge for the AFC South title and a deep playoff run three.

Baltimore Ravens – With a projected 12-5 record and a revitalized offense, the Ravens are another team to watch closely. Their new additions, like Derrick Henry, are making an impact, keeping them competitive in the AFC North.

With unpredictable performances from surprising contenders like the Commanders and Texans, along with the dominance of the usual powerhouses like the Chiefs and Ravens, the race to Super Bowl 59 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent memory.
