This upcoming year, movies are better than ever, with new releases surfacing and productions nearing completion, 2025 looks like it's going to be a great time for all movie lovers of every kind. From a new Jurassic World, to a Five Nights at Freddy's sequel, Hollywood is blooming with new films, and the excitement is captivating. 2025 also looks to be a fresh start for many series, as multiple studios are releasing brand new reboots to many adored franchises this coming year. Sequels have surfaced as well, follow ups to many newly beloved cinematic delicacies that many can't wait to see. With all this in mind, here are the biggest releases coming up.
The most anticipated movies of this coming winter-next year are Jurassic World Rebirth, the newest, surprise installment that just finished filming on September 27th, and is set to release on June 15th, 2025. Starring Scarlett Johansen, this reboot of the franchise promises to return to its roots and give long-time fans of the series a classic Jurassic experience.
Along with this reboot, also comes Warner Brothers reboot of the DC Cinematic Universe with their new 2025 title, Superman. Passing the torch of the beloved Superman Character, Henry Cavil has been replaced by David Corenswet for the massive role, which has been very controversial among fans. Opinions on the matter are expressed publicly, such as the article Henry Cavil fans feel ‘terrible’ as actor’s dropped as superman two months after quitting the Witcher, where one of the messages reads, “Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait…so you mean to tell me that Geralt got recast cuz Henry Cavill [sic] is doing Superman ONLY TO TELL ME HE’S NOT COMING BACK AS SUPERMAN EITHER????.” Set to release on July 11th, 2025, the cast and crew of this film seem to be stacked with the likes of Nicholas Halt, taking on the role of Lex Luthor, and Isabelle Merced, who will star as Hawkgirl.
Other anticipated films are also currently in development, and although they are not massive multi-million dollar reboots, they are still worth getting excited for. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is currently in development, aiming towards a December 5th, 2025 release date, and will serve as a prequel to the series.
Another surprising announcement has been the film Tron Ares, which isn’t a reboot, but a revival of the Tron Series, a set of films notorious for being mediocre at best experiences. This one however seems to be taking on a new, darker tone, and hopefully will give the Tron IP a better wrap. If this film does well, it will be a potential fresh start for the entire franchise, finally giving the amazing world of Tron the recognition it deserves. Starring Jared Leto as the lead protagonist, Ares, and with actors such as Cameron Monhagan joining the cast, this interesting film is set to debut on October 10th, 2025.
That concludes some of the newest revealed films in development, which will be releasing nationally in all main-line theaters, it looks like 2025 will be a great year for film!
